Dr. Mikao Usui was born in 1860 in Japan. A religious man and eminent teacher, his quest for learning led him to rediscover the art of healing with the hands; he considered this learning a rediscovery as healing with the hands has been mentioned in almost all the religious scriptures, and performed by the prophets in several religions.

It is thanks to Dr. Usui's patient research and endeavors that we are able to get initiated into this simple yet most powerful system of healing in a matter of two days. Dr. Usui dedicated his life to teaching Reiki, and created the dedicated masters in his lineage who carried on this practice in the pure form that he taught. Reiki channels world over are indebted to him and we are all very grateful to continue to receive his blessings.
